When discussing Taqiyya (dissimulation), many bring forward the narrations of our Imams of Ahlul-Bayt (peace be upon them), who said things such as, "Taqiyya is my religion and the religion of my fathers", etc. But in what context were these words said?

In this clip, Brother Hassan Al-Qadri also presents the narrations of Ahlul-Bayt (peace be upon them), that inform us that Taqiyya (dissimulation) was made part of our religion to protect our blood. However, once Taqiyya proves futile, and bloodshed reaches the Shia again, then there is no (general ruling of) Taqiyya anymore - as there was in the past, under the tyrannical governments. And with the state of the Shia in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Bahrain, the Hijaz, and all over the world, there is no doubt that bloodshed has reached us once again.

In the past, the Hukm 'Aam (general ruling) of Taqiyya would be more towards Wajib (obligatory), or Mustahab (encouraged). However, as our Fuqaha (jurists) have said, the general ruling of Taqiyya in our current times is that it is Haram (prohibited). Of course, the general ruling would have exceptions, and does not apply to every circumstance and situation.
